Bonding agent and adhesion promoter over PVC, fibre-glass and various synthetic composite boards.

Description

Polyurethane based, bonding agent and adhesion promoter over PVC, fibre-glass and various synthetic composite boards.

Uses

Primer and adhesion promoter for various Duram coatings such as Duram Virotuff, Duram ViroCoat, Duram Rocktuff, Duramax texture coatings and Duram membranes on to PVC, fibre-glass and various composite boards. Duram Superprime can also be used to bond water-based membrane to polyurethane based membranes.

Suitable Surfaces

PVC sheeting and PVC construction materials, fibre-glass and gel coats, and various synthetic composite boards.
Important: As compounds mat differ, we strongly recommend that the customers carry out tests to ensure the product meetos their criteria.

Additional Uses

As a bonding agent sto adhere water based membranes over Duram polyurethane membranes.

Specification

The information contained in this product data sheet is typical but does not constitute a full specification as conditions and specific requirements may vary from project to project. The instructions should be considered as a minimum requirement but the applicator or contractor must use their skill, knowledge and experience to carry out additional works as may be necessary to meet the requirements of the project. Specification for specific projects should be sought from the Company in writing.

We strongly recommend that the user carries out tetsing and test patches prior to use as products and materials may vary.

Precautions in Use

Follow the instructions as per the Product Material Safety data Sheet.
Wear gloves and safety goggles.
Use in well ventilated areas.l
Avoid contact with skin as it may burn or iiratate the skin.
Avoid contact with the eyes and contact may be painful and irritating. If in eyes, flush immediately with copious amounts of clean water holding eyelid open. Seek memdical attention.

Priming and Surface Preparation

Good preparation is essential. Surfaces must be sound, stable, dry, clean and free of dust, loose, flaking, friable material and substances that may diminish adhesion.

 

Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of contaminants, oils, greases, waxes, dust and other adhesion detracting substances.
It would be helpful if the surface was lightly sanded or abraided, but not essential. However, please note our recomendation for testing prior to use.

Application

Usually applied by brush or roller but can be spray using low pressure spray. Usually applied in a single, continous coat at the rate of 5m² to 10m² per litre depending upon the type, porosity, hardness and afffinity to the product of the substrate.
 
Allow to gel and set before top coating.

For best results the top coat should be applied as soon after the primer has properly set with some minor residual tack.

 

Coverage

The stated average coverage rate may vary depending upon type, condition, porosity, texture of the surface and application technique.

 

Approximately 5m² to 10m² per litre per coat. Refer to 'Application' above.

Drying and Curing

Drying and curing of the product is affected by type, dryness and porosity of the surface, temperature, humidity, ventilation, climate conditions and application technique and therefore drying and curing can only be given as a guide.

 

Approximately 30 to 60 minutes.

Storage

Stores in opened conatiners in cool, dry area away from heat and sources of ignition. Open containers may develop skinning. Keep away from water ingress as the product reacts and cures when contact with water occurs creating a build up of pressure inside the container.

Clean Up

Wet spills can be cleaned with Xylene.

Tiling, Topping or Top Coating

This product should only be used in conjunction with other top coats. These in turm can be topped and or tiled.

Safety & Precautions

Follow the instructions as per the Product Material Safety data Sheet.
Wear gloves and safety goggles.
Use only in well ventilated areas.
If spraying, breathing masks should be worn. Do not spray in confined areas.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If on skin, remove contaminated clothing ans wash skin with soap and water. A moisturing lotion may be soothing.
Avoid contact with eyes as contact may be painful or irritating. If in eyes, immediately rinse with copious amounts of clean, cold water holding eye lid open for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion is unlikely, but if ingested give lots of water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting and seek urgent medical attention.
